The field of view in respiratory protection equipment is a determining factor in ensuring the safety of workers in industrial environments. A wide field of view allows the user to remain alert to hazards, perform their tasks efficiently and ultimately preserve their occupational health. At AIR Safety, we understand the importance of offering respirators that not only protect, but also provide the best possible visibility.
AIRLab Evaluation of the Field of View
Thanks to our specialised laboratory, AIRLab, we have advanced technology to evaluate and optimise the field of view of our respirators. This equipment is used in Design and Development, where our products are tested and refined to ensure each respirator assembly meets the highest standards.
International standards, such as EN 136:1998 for half-mask respirators, set out that products must provide at least 70% of natural vision. To comply with these standards and ensure that our products offer comprehensive protection, we conduct extensive testing at AIRLab to measure the potential visual impairment generated by protective equipment.
Innovation in Respirator Design
At AIR Safety, we don’t just comply with minimum standards; we strive to offer the best in safety innovation. Our design team is constantly working to optimise respirators and visors, ensuring that the materials used do not distort visibility and that hermeticity and fit tests are conducted in accordance with international safety standards.
The use of anti-fog materials that are hypoallergenic and safe for skin contact is another key aspect we evaluate in our laboratory. This ensures that the visor remains clear and does not cause discomfort to the user during the working day, providing greater comfort and protection efficiency.
The Relevance of the Field of View in Work Environments
In industries such as mining, construction, and agriculture, workers are exposed to extreme conditions, and having a proper field of view can be the difference between a successful operation and a potential hazard. At AIRLab, we assess how each design impacts a worker’s vision, using advanced tools that allow us to continually adjust and improve our products. The goal is clear: to maximise the field of view while ensuring total protection from harmful particles, gases, and vapours.
